Calm is cumulative

With the turn of the calendar year, we may be tempted by the idea of sudden transformation. While that is absolutely possible, more often than not, profound change happens over time, and with consistency and frequency.

Last year, I met a reiki student who declared that I was the most calm person she’d ever met.

While I do sometimes get fired up (my astrology is rich with fire signs), and choose to live in an untamed city, I am also generally the calmest person I’ve ever met. However, this certainly wouldn’t have been the case years ago, when I was living in a constant state of stress and prone to panic from anxiety.

While therapy was completely necessary and a God-send for me, the roots of my transformation towards greater balance and equanimity have been energy healing and spiritual practice. And it didn’t happen overnight.

It happened inch by inch, like a tiny caterpillar moving across the dirt.

Periods of cocooning.

And punctuated moments of emergence.

Every meditation, every Akashic connection, every song circle, every reiki experience, and every moment of tuning in to my own breath contributes to illuminating my path towards unshakeable calm, confidence, and clarity.

And I’m still in the process of transforming. Just like you. The more you allow yourself moments of pause, the nearer you come to a sense of inner peace—creating space for abundance, joy, and a profound trust in divinely-guided alignment.
